The Job of Staying Ahead of the Seasons
Outside, it is still the height of summer.
In the midst of that, we held our photoshoot for the yuers 2026AW collection.
We chose an indoor studio located a short distance from the sea.
It isn't right on the ocean, but the location still carries a hint of the sea breeze, and that is where we captured items imbued with the atmosphere of autumn and winter.
Both the season and the air of the location are slightly out of sync with the clothes we are preparing to deliver.
That kind of feeling is just a regular part of the manufacturing process.
Shooting in an Indoor Studio
The shoot was held in an indoor studio rather than outdoors.
Instead of soaking up the sunlight directly, we captured each item under lighting that we could control.
It is a process of carefully checking the textures of materials and the layering of colors as we go.
We chose a location near the sea for the sake of ease of travel and an environment where we could focus on the shoot in peace.
Imagining Winter While Sweating
Even indoors, it’s hotter than you’d expect...
With the heat of the lighting and the sun from outside, it gets quite warm in the studio.
Even so, when I pick up a new pair of shoes,
I naturally find myself wondering, "What kind of winter will I walk through in these?"
Looking at autumn and winter items in the middle of summer can sometimes offer a perspective that is a little different than usual.
Things Confirmed During the Shoot
There are many steps involved before a pair of shoes is completed: design, material selection, sample production, and photography.
For this shoot, we took the samples in hand and proceeded while confirming their colors and textures under the light.
The information conveyed when holding something in person is different from seeing it on a screen.
The weight, the balance of stiffness and softness, the feel when walking.
It is steady, meticulous work, confirming each of these aspects one by one.
About the New Collection
I cannot share the details just yet.
Having finished the shoot, the team feels very positive about the results.
We aimed for a pair of shoes with function, purpose, and longevity.
Rather than flashiness, we focused on how well they integrate into daily life.
That perspective remains unchanged this time, too.
