rerer's story

" rerer " is an original brand developed by YUEN STORE . This brand combines eco-friendliness and playfulness to provide unique items that brighten up your daily life through upcycling. In this special feature, we will introduce the story behind the birth of the " rerer " brand.

[1. The birth of the brand]

The impetus for launching the rerer brand came from noticing the presence of airbags and seat belts that tend to be thrown away as scrap materials from cars. It pained me to see these materials being discarded with no other use, and at the root of it all was the desire to use them to create something with new value. There were already items using airbags on the market, but I felt that it would be counterproductive to just leave them as objects, so I aimed to create products that were affordable and easy to use. For that reason, all of the products are simple and easy to incorporate into everyday life.


2. The meaning of the brand name

The brand name "rerer" incorporates the three R's: "realize," "reduce," and "resource." We aim to provide products that add new value to discarded materials and blend into everyday life. The brand symbol, a "unique triangle," symbolizes eco and the SDGs, and offers a new perspective on recycling. We also aim to create items that are a little unique and fun, such as "nice to have" and "playful," to brighten up everyday life. When deciding on the brand name, we were particular about the initials of the 3Rs, with UPCYCLE as the keyword.


[3. Manufacturing Philosophy]

The common theme of all rerer products is that they can be used in daily life. The designs are simple, easy for anyone to pick up, and incorporate minimalist elements. We pay particular attention to materials and functionality, and design with ease of use as the top priority.


4. Until it takes shape

What impressed me about the process from launching the brand to completing the product was the difficulty of upcycling. The product cannot be completed without the cooperation of many people in the production process. Also, no two products produced through upcycling are the same, and there is a risk that the same product cannot be reproduced. In that respect, I felt it was a big challenge.

[5. What we want to convey through rerer]

What we want to convey through rerer is to raise eco-consciousness, even if only a little. We hope that by using our products, consumers will naturally become eco-conscious.


6. Now and in the Future

In the future, while continuing to upcycle, we plan to develop even more enjoyable products by creating items with creative looks, such as by combining different materials. As a part of the YUEN STORE, we also hope to grow as a presence that proposes a new lifestyle that is both eco-friendly and playful.
