We use recycled nylon made from discarded car airbags that have been washed and dyed. The nylon yarn used in airbags is called "66 nylon," which is known for its high mechanical strength, light weight, and excellent abrasion resistance. Each item has a unique appearance, with some showing wrinkles or remnants of original stitching. We hope you will enjoy these individual characteristics.
With many new cars manufactured and sold each year, approximately 3.5 million vehicles are scrapped annually in Japan. While Japan boasts excellent technology, with a reported automobile recycling rate in the high 90s, airbags and seatbelts are extremely robust and specially constructed, making them difficult to repurpose into something else. Unfortunately, many are currently discarded. We hope to contribute, even a little, to efforts to reduce waste.
